Mr Matthews visits School in Finland

Last week, Mr Matthews had the opportunity to visit a School in Finland to see how their teaching methods differ to ours.  Before Mr Matthews left the children in Class 4MB made a list of what they would like to know about School in Finland.

Sam asked "Do they have electronic white boards?" and Leandre asked
"How old are pupils when they start and finish?"
Mr Matthews found out that as the picture shows they do
use White Boards and also a black board.  The children begin
school as 7yrs old and finish at 12 to go to secondary school.

Jamie was interested to know what lessons do they do as was Saffron who
wondered whether their lessons were similar to ours.  Mr Matthews told
us that the lessons are very similar.  Each lesson is 45 minutes long with a 15 minute break
after each lesson.  Each child also learns to play a musical instrument.
The School does not have a uniform and you will that the teaching
staff also dress casually.  If you look closely you will see that no-one wears
shoes in the school building.

Charlotte asked "How big is the School?" and Edward wanted to know, how many
pupils are there in a class?
Mr Matthews told us that the School is only two years old and nice and big
and there are about 15-20 pupils in each class.

Both players won their matches 3-0 and played extremely well. Zachary has also been asked to be part of the Essex County Squad. Congratulations to them both!
