4S were set an interesting end of term challenge by Miss Smith today.  They were shown pictures of various athletes and, in teams, had to make similar sportswear using only newspaper and cellotape.

The Tempest - Yr 6 Performance

This year our Year 6 children braved the elements by holding their incredible performace of The Tempest outside in the playground.  A wonderful stage set was built and great use was made of the outside play equipment.  The performance was a huge success and all credit goes to the Year 6 performers and  the Year 5 supporting choir.  Special thanks go to Mr Bernstein, Mrs White, Mrs Copping, Mrs Roberts and Mrs Gallagher and not forgetting our in-house sound man Josh Bobby.

Consortium Schools' Olympics Closing Ceremony

Monday 9th July saw the closing ceremony following two weeks of sporting celebration amongst the Consortium Primary Schools.  An amazing amount of effort and team work has been involved to ensure that many, many sporting memories have been made for our children.  A huge THANK YOU goes out to all the clubs/organisations who gave up their time to visit our schools, as well as all the teaching staff and parents.

We have a montage of video footage of the closing ceremony which can be seen by clicking the following links.

Andy and Amy from years 1 and 2 represented Heathlands at a golf tournament at Monkwick Infants School.  They both brought home some very nice certificates.  Well done children!!

The Olympic Torch comes to Colchester

Wow! What excitement.  Heathlands opened it's doors at 7.30 this morning for a special Olympic breakfast celebration.  80 children turned up bright and early to watch the Torch Relay on the big screen in the hall followed by a scrummy breakfast of croisants, fruit and fruit juice.  Lots of children from the School also lined the streets to join in the celebrations.

Mr Matthews took us with two Olympic Reporters Lola and Megan.

Even though I have played golf before, this certainly was craaaazy golf!!! I loved it!!

My trip to Plopsaland - By Zac 5C

The year 5 classes have been on a journey to Belgium.  Firstly, we got to school  at 5.30 in the morning I was soo tired.  Then we were told which group we were in.  I was with Mr Matthew's group with Timmy, Louis, Hannah, Brandon, Millie and Ben.  We went on a long coach ride to Dover and took the ferry accross to Calais.  Then we got back on the coach and drove to Plopsaland.  When we got there we came accross a huge door which was a bit odd because it didn't lead anywhere.  We saw loads of statues and signs.  Then we saw the waterpark and we got soaked.  This was brill!!There were many rides including the Bat Ride, Anubis, Pirate Ship and the Washing Machine.  I tried all the rides and even faced my fears and went on the rollercoasters, yehey!  I had a great day and so much fun.
